SunSpec Modbus – A Hand’s-On Overview with ASE 2000

By Shwetha Bhat JAN 9, 2025 (THU)

Join this insightful webinar about the Sunspec Modbus, an open communication standard that specifies common parameters and settings for monitoring and controlling Distributed Energy Resource (DER) systems.
ASE2000 version 2.34 (Dec Release) now supports SunSpec Modbus Master capabilities in Communication Test Set with device point list discovery, data validation against schema and Write operations.
Who should attend / What are the main takeaways:

– First part of the webinar will cover telemetry aspects of SunSpec Modbus, explaining how to get data model from a remote device, and how to perform periodic read operations from a meter or inverter. Polling of telemetry data in SunSpec Modbus will help attendees to understand the values that are included in SunSpec Modbus telemetry classes.

– Second part of the webinar will focus on covering the commands / control aspect of SunSpec Modbus. Compared to controls in the other protocols, SunSpec Modbus controls are more like schedules written from the DERMS system into the inverter. Attendees will get to know about different schedules possible via SunSpec Modbus to set the behavior of controllers and invertors.
